Banff International String Quartet Competition |

Quartet of bows commissioned by the Royal Bank of Canada as part of the first prize awarded to the winners of the 6th Banff International String Quartet Competition, August 16 to August 22, 1998. This competition was won by the Miro Quartet of the USA. The
Royal Bank has once again commissioned a quartet of

2001 Competition Line-up The quartets were selected by a preliminary jury of three distinguished musicians: Wolfgang Laufer, USA (Fine Arts Quartet); Jean Sulem, France (Rosamonde Quartet); and David Takeno, UK (former member, Tokyo Quartet). They each listened to and marked the unidentified copies of the audition tapes submitted by quartets from around the world. The ten top quartets have been invited to Banff for the 2001 competition.
